Dear Parents, Staff and Students

We have had a bumper week of activity while simultaneously ensuring a strong week of academics. Congratulations to our class of 2026 for organizing an extremely successful Valentines Day program. Thank you to the Grade 12 team of register educators. A special shout out must go to Ms De Kock for her leading role in managing this event.

The debating team participated in their first formal debate and emerged the victors against an unbeaten South Peninsula High team. Well done to the team made up of Leah Kannemeyer, Tyler Adams, Elam Mpondonqi and Tyler Prinsloo. We also thank Mr Daniel, our teacher in charge. We are part of the Tores foundation debate Club and thank Coach Josef for his guidance.

The Inter- Zonal Athletics competition took place this weekend and we congratulate all our athletes who participated in this competition. The Volleyball teams had their first friendly games against Rylands High this week as part of their pre-season training. Netball training has commenced. The Marching Band and the Eco club continue to thrive. The Christian and Muslim societies as well. We congratulate all our readers who received awards from Exclusive Books at the “Reading is Kwaai” prize giving at Cavendish Square. We thank Mr Nigel Mortley our mobile librarian for this initiative that has now become an annual tradition. We are proud to announce that our top reader for 2025 is Skyla Valentine. Well done Skyla!!

We encourage all students to get involved in the after school program whether it is a sport, cultural club and / or society. The RCL has completed all their elections and their leaders Sharon Mashonga and Perucy Sotyatyo, represented the school at the Education district workshop for RCL Leaders. We are proud of you and of all our students who are involved in positive activities at the school. Keep serving with kindness, care and respect.

This communication also serves to inform the Windsor family that the school governing body has applied to the SAP to do a search and seizure for illegal substances and weapons. Warrant Officer Manyahke, the school’s liaison officer, has informed the school that this will be done randomly. We will not be informed of when it will take place. The reason why this is being done is to ensure that the school remains a place of safety. We are a drug and weapon free zone. Cigarettes, vapes, weed are examples of illegal substances. Pepper spray, pocket knives, sharp objects, lighters are examples of illegal weapons.

We appeal to our parents that collect their children from school to report to us any inappropriate behavior that is seen when students are dismissed at the end of the day. Report it immediately so that we can deal with this display of disrespect. As said before the overwhelming majority of Windsor High students are respectful, we are working hard with a few students to teach them what respect looks like and that they have to take accountability for their disrespect and the negative public image they portray. A child is taught values of respect at home, yet as a staff we have to spend far too much time dealing with disrespect before school, in the classroom and after school. Thank you to those parents/guardians who collaborate and support the staff in this societal issue that we are forced to manage.

The week ahead becomes the start of a very holy period for both Christians and Muslims as we approach the start of Lent and Ramadan. We pray for our communities and the Windsor family during this holy period. En AvantKind Regards
