Dear Parents, Staff and Students
This past week our students enjoyed the Inter – School Athletic Meeting at Green Point Stadium and the grade 8 team had a lovely family social day. Thank you to all our staff, parents and students involved in the planning, preparation and participation. Thank you, especially to our parents and service providers for all the donations received.
The captains of the Athletic team, Tyler Jones, Mika Petersen, Vice Captains, Aneeq Cassiem and Tamsyn Van Harte together with all the athletes must be congratulated for their performance at the Inter-School Athletic meeting held at Green Point Stadium. Windsor High was placed in fifth position amongst 12 other competing schools. Coach Toefy must be commended for preparing the team so well. Thank you Sir for all the sacrifices and your diligence. We are proud of you and the Windsor Athletics team. Thank you to Ms Hanslo for your guidance, support to coach and the team and for your excellent leadership in this portfolio. To the supporting staff and officials thank you for going the extra mile in ensuring our athletes and spectators were taken care of on the day. Team work remains dream work!
As with the Athletics, our grade 8 team of register educators under the helm of Ms Mally planned a wonderful social event for our grade 8 families. Lots of fun was had by all. Thank you to Ms Jafta and the estate team, Ms Arendse and Ms Mosavel for the support provided on the day. Once again team work!
Valentines Day Fundraiser
On Friday, 13th February the Class of 2026 will be hosting a Valentines show in the Main school hall during interval. Students may come dressed in casual wear at a cost of R20-00 and those dressed in uniform will pay R10-00. This payment is compulsory for all students. All students will have free entry to the show.
Mathematics and Math Literacy Assessment
On the same day as above all students will write a formal assessment. The assessment will be written in the morning at 08:30. Lesson 1 and 2 will follow before we have the interval / Valentines Show. Lesson 3 and 4 will continue after the show. Students must ensure that they have their notebooks and pens as teaching/learning remains the key focus of the day. Attached is information to ensure that each grade 8 and 9 student is registered with Siyavula.
Parent Support before and after school
There is a saying that goes something like this: ” it takes a village to raise a child “. We appeal to you, our parents, to report any inappropriate behavior that you witness outside of the school site immediately on the day so that we can nip it in the bud. Let’s have the spirit of “Your child is my child”. Educators and support staff cannot be everywhere. If you witness students smoking, tell them to stop!
Parents and guardians engage with your child, communicate with them, talk to them about respect and appropriate behavior. They have a lifetime to be adults and to do the things adults do in the safety of their home. When they are in their school uniform they represent themselves, their family and most importantly the school.
We welcome on board in the Afrikaans Department, Mr Abrahams who will be a substitute educator for the term. We wish him well for this term and warmly welcome him into the Windsor family.
As educators we approach week 5 determined to ensure excellence in our delivery of the curriculum content to our students. As parents/guardians ensure that learning is consolidated at home. Grade 8 to 11 should be spending at least one hour at home doing homework, revising and practicing math. Grade 12 at least 2 hours daily. As students you should be focused in class and co-operating with your subject teacher.
Normal school dismissal times for the week ahead and we appeal that all students are punctual. School commences at 08:00 and if your child is going to be late please inform us.
In closing, we pray that the week ahead will be a productive one for the Windsor family. En Avante
Kind Regards
Dianne Morgan-Meyer
